Make Sure Your Discount Medicine Is Pharmacist Approved

There are many ways to get discount medicine, and you don’t have to buy from a questionable source to get it. There are many websites out there that offer you drugs for a discounted price, and some even allow you to get meds without a prescription, but you should never consider ordering from any of them. They are not safe, and you should never take any drug without your doctor knowing you are doing so. Many of them say they come from countries that you might trust, such as Canada, but how to you know that’s really where they really come from? You just don’t.

There are programs out there of which you might not be aware. Many of the larger drug companies have programs that help people in financial need get discount medicine. They can sometimes give you your drugs for free, depending on your circumstances. Though they cannot help anyone, it never hurts to give them a call to see if you quality for free or discount medicine. They can only help you with the drugs they make, of course, but if you are on an expensive drug, and there is no generic available, you may be able to get some help.

You can also get discount medicine through your health plan. Many people know about this but for some reason they do not take advantage of it. There are many reasons for this. I had a 250-dollar deductible, and I did not present my insurance card when I paid for them. A few months later I had to go on a pretty expensive medication for a few months, and I didn’t get credit towards my deductible. Had I done that, I would have been about to get discount medicine the last few months that I had to take it.

You can also get discount medicine by signing up for a program meant to help lower income families get discount medicine. You have to make sure you are getting what you are signing up for though. There are some that offer to help you get discount medicine if you pay a fee to them each month. Make sure you read the fine print or you may be paying for something you can’t use. They may offer discounts only on certain meds or they may only cover certain states or areas. Call your pharmacist before you sign up to be sure they can take the card for the discount.
