Discount Cheap Hotels: When Price Matters!!
If there ever was a penny pincher, it was my
father. We were definitely far from poor – he was a rich lawyer, and he knew
it, yet to hear him talk about it, you would think he was a penniless
pauper. I did not want to stay in four star hotels or anything, but the
discount cheap hotels that he put us in made me long for the comforts of a
hovel. They were awful. We stayed in so many fleabag hotels just to save 10
or 20 dollars a night, that by the time I was 13, I knew several species of
rats by name.
The thing he didn't understand is that you do not have to totally do away
with quality to stay in a discounts cheap hotel. The key is that, when you
travel cheap, you also have to travel smart. There are plenty of discount
cheap hotels deals to be had if you keep an eye out in the right way. Last
minute cheap hotels, for example, are one of the best ways to get luxury
accommodations at an economy price. Now they aren't the least expensive of
discount cheap hotels, but they will still save you a lot of money and allow
you to sleep pretty comfortably.
I think my dad's problem was that he had too much guilt whenever he would
enjoy himself. In my opinion, a vacation is all about having fun. For him,
however, it was about killing a week while spending as little money as
possible. If you think about it, he was actually wasting money with those
discount cheap hotels. If he had spent an extra 20 dollars a night at most,
he would have had a great time. As it was, he was still paying money, but he
did not get to enjoy himself. That does not seem like sound economics to me.
Don't get me wrong – I will still stay in discount cheap hotels on the road.
I don't stay at only bed and breakfast hotels when I am traveling. There are
plenty of clean, well put together discount cheap hotels where you can find
a comfortable bed and even a complimentary continental breakfast the next
morning. The key is to find something that is both economical and
comfortable. That way, you don't spend all night worrying about the bugs
that might be crawling around you, or wheezing from the mildew.
